cs2clutchEz

Free and open source · Windows

Your best CS2 rounds, turned into videos. ez.

Import a demo or paste the match share code. cs2clutchEz finds the aces, clutches and multi-kills of the player you pick and records each one to MP4 straight from CS2.

What cs2clutchEz does

Finds the plays

Aces, 1v1 to 1v5 clutches, multi-kills, no-scopes, wallbangs, knife and Zeus kills, retakes, clutch defuses, decisive rounds and high damage — all read from the demo's events.

Records in CS2 itself

The app opens the demo in the game, seeks to each moment, sets the camera and captures the window with audio. The video is the real game, not a recreation.

Batch queue

Pick several highlights and let them render. Pause, resume or cancel — and the same clip is never recorded twice.

Export your way

720p to 4K, 30 to 120 FPS, H.264 or H.265 on NVENC, AMF, Quick Sync or CPU, bitrate, seconds before and after, and the camera of the player, the killer, the victim, third person or director.

Share codes

Paste a CSGO-… code and the app downloads the demo from Valve. Matches CS2 already downloaded show up with their code ready to copy.

How to turn a CS2 demo into a video

  1. Import

Drop a .dem or .dem.bz2 (Matchmaking, Premier, FACEIT, Gamers Club, HLTV…) or paste the match code.

  2. Pick the player

See the score, the rounds and every player's stats, and choose who gets the spotlight.

  3. Tick the highlights

The list is sorted by the best plays, with category filters. Tick the ones you want.

  4. Make the videos

CS2 opens by itself, records each clip, and the MP4s come out sorted by player, match and category.

Good to know

  • Recording happens in real time: a 15 s clip takes about 15 s, plus loading the demo. Don't use the PC while rendering — the game window has to stay in front.
  • Requires Counter-Strike 2 installed through Steam and Windows 10 (1903 or newer) or 11. FFmpeg comes with the installer.
  • Nothing is injected into the game: the app uses the console, a .cfg file and demo playback, just like you would by hand. Your video settings and binds are saved first and restored at the end.
  • Matchmaking and Premier demos stay on Valve's servers for about 30 days. CS:GO (Source 1) demos are not supported.

FAQ

Is it really free?

Yes. It's open source under the MIT license, with no ads and no account. All the code is on GitHub.

Does it work with FACEIT, Gamers Club and HLTV demos?

Yes, with any Counter-Strike 2 .dem or .dem.bz2. To record, CS2 has to be able to open the demo — very old demos may not open after game updates.

How do I download the demo of a CS2 match?

In CS2, open Watch → Your Matches and download the match, or copy its share code (CSGO-…) and paste it into cs2clutchEz, which downloads the demo from Valve's servers by itself. Matchmaking and Premier demos stay available for about 30 days.

Where does CS2 save downloaded demos?

In the game\csgo\replays folder of the Counter-Strike 2 installation (for example Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\csgo\replays). cs2clutchEz finds those matches by itself and shows each one's code.

Do I need OBS or another program to record?

No. cs2clutchEz opens the demo in CS2, records the game window with audio using FFmpeg (included in the installer) and hands you the trimmed MP4 — no editing needed.

Where are the videos saved?

In Documents\cs2clutchEz\Highlights, split by player, match and category (Ace, Clutch, MultiKill…). You can change the folder in the settings and on the export page.

Can I use the PC while it records?

It's not recommended: the CS2 window is captured in real time and the app uses the keyboard to control the demo. Let it render and come back when the queue is done.

Is it affiliated with Valve?

No. cs2clutchEz is an independent project. Counter-Strike, CS2 and Steam are trademarks of Valve Corporation.

How can I contribute or translate?

Open an issue or a pull request on GitHub. The app's translations live in src/CS2HG.Core/Localization and the website's in website/i18n, one JSON file per language.
